I had an inReach for about a year and sold it due to lack of use. Along with the inReach came a subscription to Earthmate. I liked Earthmate so much that I subscribed to Earthmate separately after returning my inReach. It’s great for plotting hike routes or downloading ones prepared by others. Then, you have a subscription to a variety of North American maps, including USGS quads — you download just the maps you need for the hike or other travel you are taking. Others can follow you progress, you can track and save your own progress. My iPhone is my only outdoor navigation device (I do keep a map and compass for backup). Much lighter and smaller than a dedicated GPS device. Overall, I get great value. It’s about $30 for the app and the first year service, then renew service for about $15 a year.
